Reciprocity Application (2024)

In order to complete this application, you must have actively practiced law in a state that shares reciprocity with New Mexico for the last five (5) out of the preceding seven (7) years.  Please ensure that your state is a reciprocal state by visiting our website.  You also must have actively practiced law in that state or states for five (5) out of the preceding seven (7) years.  If you are any other type of applicant, please exit and apply within the correct type of application. Application fees are not refundable and are set by the Rules Governing Admission, which have been adopted by the New Mexico Supreme Court. You may email info@nmexam.org with any questions if you are unable to use the portal for messaging.  After you submit your application, please use this portal for communication with the New Mexico Board of Bar Examiners.  If you are applying during the months of February or July, please understand that we are preparing for, and administering the bar examination and our response time may be delayed.  For technical issues, please contact Submittable directly using the link at the bottom of this page.

Please note: your application will be processed in three steps. After you have completed the first portion of the application, we will review the application and send you both steps two and three via this portal.

You application will remain open for a period of twelve (12) months.  If you have not completed the necessary requirements after twelve (12) months, your application will be deemed withdrawn.
